In response the senseless shooting at Brown University, Representative Balint said:
This is NOT the price we must pay for our freedom [and] I will continue to fight for sensible gun laws.
During her tenure as State Senate Majority Leader, Rep. Balint proudly passed the first gun safety laws in Vermont History. With that same spirit in mind, Rep. Balint has continued to make gun violence prevention a top legislative priority. She has since been proud to be an original cosponsor of the Bipartisan Background Checks Act and the Assault Weapon Ban.
