As the second woman elected to federal office in Minnesota, Rep. Betty McCollum has served her constituents faithfully, working to pass life-saving laws, and supporting stronger gun violence prevention measures.

In 2016, in the aftermath of the deadly Pulse Nightclub shooting, Rep. McCollum participated in a historic sit-in for gun violence prevention, and in 2022, she was an ardent supporter of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act — the first meaningful federal gun safety law signed in 30 years.

Rep. McCollum said:

The American people are pleading for real action to stop the senseless gun violence claiming 110 innocent lives every single day across America.

Rep. McCollum is a strong supporter of banning ghost guns, passing a national ban on assault weapons, and funding community violence intervention programs. During Gun Violence Awareness Month, she spoke out on the House floor in support of The CDC's Firearm Injury and Death Prevention Program.

The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Rep. McCollum for reelection to represent Minnesota’s 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
