As the Majority Whip, Assemblywoman Carol Murphy has fought to protect and defend gun violence prevention efforts in New Jersey.

While serving in the New Jersey General Assembly, Assemblywoman Murphy:
- Voted to preserve funding for Rutgers University’s Gun Violence Research Center, which has conducted and supported dozens of studies that help gun violence prevention advocates and policymakers better understand the contours of this public health crisis and its solutions
- Advocated to bolster the state’s concealed carry permitting system, banning firearms from sensitive public places, like preschools, playgrounds, parks, and hospitals
- Supported legislation to implement firearm microstamping, a revolutionary technology that marks bullets to aid law enforcement in tracing guns recovered from crimes and solving homicide cases
