As a former prosecutor and public safety advocate, Hines has spent her career working to reduce violent crime and advance common-sense policies to keep communities safe.

As a prosecutor, she handled numerous cases involving firearm-related crimes. Hines has also supported legislation to reduce unintentional shootings and promote responsible firearm storage, including measures requiring pediatricians to inform parents about children’s access to firearms and the risks of unsecured guns at home.

Hines said:

Gun violence is something no parent should have to fear, and no child should have to grow up around. Our kids deserve to feel safe in their schools, in their neighborhoods, and in their everyday lives.

Hines is prepared to continue to fight for life-saving measures that would prevent these tragedies before they happen. She supports legislation like expanded Brady Background Checks and banning assault weapons.

The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Hines in her campaign to represent Michigan’s 10th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
