Virginia Delegate Dan Helmer is committed to the fight to end gun violence in Virginia.
As a U.S. Army veteran, he has a deep understanding of firearms and gun safety, and wants to enact common-sense, life-saving solutions to protect Virginia communities.
As a Virginia Delegate, Helmer has:
- Authored legislation to ban assault weapons and large capacity magazines
- Led the fight to pass gun industry accountability legislation, which would allow gun violence victims and survivors to have their day in court against members of the gun industry
- Advocated for a firearms waiting period between the time of purchase and possession of a firearm, allowing for a cooling off period for those at potential risk of harm to themselves or others
Delegate Helmer has continuously put gun violence prevention at the forefront of his work in Virginia – his continued presence in Richmond is vital.
