As a long-time resident of the Humboldt Park community in Chicago, Rep. Delia Ramirez understands the toll gun violence can have on a community.
The commitment from Rep. Ramirez to end gun violence started long before she joined Congress. As an Illinois State representative, Rep. Ramirez secured over $200 million in state funding for community violence intervention programs and fought for bail reform to ensure pretrial detention is fair.
In Congress, Rep. Ramirez had supported work to ban assault weapons, ban ghost guns, and pass universal background checks. Rep. Ramirez also led the charge alongside Rep. Robin Kelly and Rep. Maxwell Frost to introduce the Prevent Illegal Gun Sales Act, adding necessary reform to the license application for gun dealers.
