Rep. Diana DeGette has been a dedicated public servant for her constituents in Colorado.
As a member of the U.S. House's Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Rep. DeGette has fought hard to end the gun violence epidemic and protect Colorado communities. During her tenure, she was the lead sponsor of the Keep Americans Safe Act, which would help ban high-capacity magazines, and she was the lead sponsor of legislation to pass a national ban on assault weapons.
Rep. DeGette has also sponsored key legislation to expand background checks, worked to ban bump stocks, and has fought hard to protect gun violence prevention policies against the Trump administration’s assault on life-saving measures.
Rep. DeGette said:
58% of American adults have experienced gun violence in their lifetime, or else they have a loved one who has experienced this tragedy. Gun violence is a public health crisis, and we must end it. That’s why I am fighting to ban high-capacity gun magazines, ban assault weapons, and enhance background checks.
