Dr. Raul Ruiz has built his life around service and public safety.
As a California elected leader and physician, Dr. Ruiz has spent his career advocating for life-saving measures. He voted for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which represents the most significant federal gun safety legislation passed in decades, and announced the introduction of the Vote Without Fear Act, which would prohibit armed intimidation at the voting booth.
Dr. Ruiz said:
As physicians and public health experts, we are equipped with the knowledge, data, and firsthand experience to treat the public health crisis of gun violence (...) We see what this epidemic looks like from the ground level, which is why it is important we declare together: this is our lane.
Dr. Ruiz has also supported life-saving bills including the Assault Weapons Ban, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, and Ethan’s Law, which mandates secure firearm storage..
