He co-sponsored the Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act of 2023, which would allow victims of gun violence to hold the gun industry accountable in court, and supported a ban on assault weapons, a bill to ensure universal background checks, and more.

In 2025, Rep. Vasquez called on social media companies to take immediate steps to stop the sale of illegal firearms, curb youth violence, and protect children and families in New Mexico and across the country.
