Former State Sen. J.D. Ford is running for Congress to fight for the right of every Hoosier to feel safe in their state.

Indiana communities, and Ford, know far too well the impact of gun violence. In the aftermath of the 2021 shooting at an Indians FedEx facility, Ford spoke out against the lack of gun violence prevention laws in his state, and promised to work to change that.

Ford said:

Gun violence is made possible by our gun policies. I am saddened to see the repercussions of bad policy choices that are making Hoosiers everywhere less safe. It hurts for this preventable violence to happen in our neighborhood.

In Congress, Ford has promised to make gun violence prevention a priority, and will support common-sense gun safety measures, like expanded Brady Background Checks, extreme risk laws, and a ban on assault weapons and large-capacity magazines.

The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Ford to represent Indiana’s 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
