As the deputy chief of staff at the California Department of Justice, Jessica Caloza has learned how to fight for public safety.
While working as a Deputy Chief of Staff and Special Advisor to California Attorney General Rob Bonta, she played a role in enforcing our state’s laws, including those related to gun violence. For Caloza, gun violence prevention is personal, having witnessed its effects as a child. And now she wants to ensure no one else has to experience that pain.
During her time as Deputy Chief of Staff, Caloza helped launch the Attorney General’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention (OGVP), which was established to advance California’s efforts to adopt a more holistic approach to reducing gun violence. She also worked to help enforce California’s gun laws, keep students safe in school, and get illegal guns off California streets.
She plans to continue this work in the California General Assembly. If elected, Caloza wants to ensure that her constituents have the right to live without the fear of gun violence.
Caloza said:
We need elected leaders who are committed to doing whatever it takes to end gun violence and protect our communities, especially our children.
The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Caloza in her campaign to represent the 52nd California Assembly District.
