Rep. Jim Clyburn has long represented and fought for South Carolina’s 6th Congressional District.

In his time in Congress, Rep. Clyburn has worked tirelessly to enact comprehensive and common-sense gun violence prevention policies that have helped keep South Carolinians safe. In particular, after the mass shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in 2015, Rep. Clyburn introduced legislation that would close the Charleston loophole that allowed that gun to be purchased.

Rep. Clyburn said:

As we tragically witnessed in Charleston, South Carolina at Emanuel AME Church in 2015, and far too often elsewhere, hatred and guns are a lethal mix. We must do more to keep deadly firearms out of the hands of those seeking to use them to commit these heinous crimes.

Since then, Rep. Clyburn has continued his work in Congress to prevent gun violence before it happens while serving on the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force. He is a strong supporter of a national ban on assault weapons, expanding Brady Background Check, banning ghost guns, and more.

The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Rep. Jim Clyburn for reelection to represent South Carolina’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
