In Connecticut, Sandy Hook remains at the forefront of minds when discussing the epidemic of gun violence in our country. Rep. Larson is a champion of common-sense gun violence prevention legislation. He has supported various background check initiatives and limitations to the amount of ammunition a firearm magazine can hold. He believes we must address the prevalence of straw-purchases, where one person purchases a firearm for another person’s intended use. Rep. Larson has cosponsored legislation to ban assault weapons. He also recognizes that gun violence injuries can be both physical and emotional and for that reason has introduced the City Youth Violence Recovery Act to increase young people’s access to mentoring, counseling, social-emotional learning programs and other mental health services.
