Rep. Joe Morelle has spent his time in Congress fighting for gun violence prevention, and he’s not stopping now.
Since being elected, Rep. Morelle has authored and co-sponsored legislation that takes meaningful steps to end the gun violence epidemic, including banning assault weapons and large-capacity magazines, strengthening background checks on all gun sales, and keeping illegal guns off our streets.
After the Trump administration took office, Rep. Morelle became a champion of fighting to hold the line and protect legislation that had been fought for for decades by gun violence prevention activists. He has gone toe to toe with the gun lobby and the Trump administration in the face of huge rollbacks on common-sense gun violence prevention.
Rep. Morelle said:
I'm leading more than 90 of my colleagues in demanding answers from the Trump Administration over proposed rollbacks to federal gun safety regulations. Rolling back commonsense protections will make our communities less safe and undermine years of progress. Gun violence continues to devastate communities, we cannot move backward on public safety.
