Julia Brownley

As a member of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Rep. Julia Brownley has championed legislation to protect California communities from gun violence.

During the 118th Congress, Rep. Brownley has sponsored the Protecting Americans from Reckless Gun Dealers Act of 2023 (H.R. 4966), which would help report and collect data to study the effectiveness of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in investigating and revoking the licenses of negligent or illegal firearm dealers.

Rep. Brownley said:

Over the weekend, mass shootings in Alabama, Ohio, and Arkansas devastated countless communities and reminded us that the crippling and pervasive gun violence epidemic in this country is far from over. Sadly, Ventura County also knows the heart-wrenching impact of gun violence. This loss of life is senseless, preventable, and utterly unacceptable.

Rep. Brownley has also introduced life-saving bills like the Gun Suicide Prevention Act and has cosponsored essential bills like the Assault Weapons Ban of 2023 (H.R. 698), the Bipartisan Background Checks Act (H.R. 715), Ethan’s Law (H.R. 660) to mandate safe firearm storage, and more.

The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Rep. Julia Brownley for reelection to represent California’s 26th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
