When Dr. Kim Schrier was elected, she made history as the first pediatrician and only the second woman physician to serve in Congress.
Her unique background has given her a deep understanding of the impact of gun violence on our communities, and specifically on our children. This has led her to become a champion of gun violence prevention while representing Washington.
Rep. Schrier said:
As a mom and pediatrician, I know how important it is to take action on common sense gun safety. Like many parents, I trust that my son will be safe when I send him to school, but we know that nowhere is really safe in a country that allows guns to get into the hands of people who would do others harm.
In Congress, Rep. Schrier co-sponsored legislation for universal background checks and the Violence Against Women Act, which keeps guns out of the hands of those convicted of domestic violence. She also supports repealing restrictions on funding for gun violence research as a public health crisis.
The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Rep. Kim Schrier for reelection to represent Washington’s 8th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
