Rep. Krisen McDonald Rivet has proven herself to be a gun violence champion.
While serving in the Michigan State Senate, Rep. Rivet introduced a gun violence prevention package that would help prevent devastating incidents of gun violence, like the mass shootings at Michigan State University and Oxford High School. The package included legislation that would expand background checks, close the private sale loophole, allow a court to issue an extreme risk protection order (ERPO) to temporarily remove a firearm from a person in crisis, and more.
Now, as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Rivet has continued to take up this fight, working to protect Michigan communities.
Rep. Rivet said:
I don't pretend to have all the answers, but we can't do nothing and hope things get better. Common-sense gun violence prevention must be at the top of Congress' agenda when we return.
