Like far too many, the fight against gun violence for Rep. Laura Gillen is personal.
After losing a friend to gun violence, she has dedicated her work to ensuring that no one else feels that same pain.
As a lawyer, Rep. Gillen represented victims of domestic violence, pro bono, and as the first democrat in over 100 years to serve as Town Supervisor in Nassau County, she passed critical legislation relating to sexual harassment, veterans benefits, and ethics reform. Now, as a member of Congress, she has fought to ensure secure firearm storage, expand Brady Background Checks, and close loopholes that allow domestic abusers easy access to firearms.

It is time to end the scourge of gun violence and pass commonsense gun reform to keep our communities safe. That includes national background checks, red flag laws, and an assault weapons ban.
