Rep. Lauren Underwood made history in 2019 when she became the youngest Black woman to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives as well as the first millennial, first woman, and first person of color to represent her district.
A former nurse, Rep. Lauren Underwood uniquely understands gun violence and the threat it poses as a health epidemic. As a member of the Armed Services Community, Rep. Underwood made veteran suicide crisis her top legislation priority and wrote the Bipartsian Veterans Care Quality Transperency Act which was signed into law.
