Rep. Madeleine Dean has dedicated much of her career to gun violence prevention.
As a Pennsylvania State House member, she founded and served as co-chair of the PA-SAFE Caucus, an active coalition of legislators and advocates dedicated to ending gun violence. The first action Rep. Dean took upon setting foot on Capitol Hill was introducing the Undetectable Firearms Modernization Act (H.R. 4160), which requires firearms to have materials detectable by metal detectors so weapons of war never make their way into places they can wreak mass harm.
Rep. Dean has consistently championed common-sense gun violence prevention policies, including those that help to reduce firearm suicide. She introduced the Protect Children Through Safe Gun Ownership Act (H.R. 3687), which would mandate the safe storage of firearms and provide grants for safe storage education. Each day in America, eight kids and teens are unintentionally injured or killed by unlocked or unsupervised guns in the home, but this legislation has the potential to prevent this by changing the culture to promote responsible gun ownership.
Rep. Dean said:
I am honored to have the support of Brady. Together, I am eager to pass substantive legislation outlined in the Brady Plan to keep all Americans and communities safe. We can and must take action and save lives.
Rep. Dean has consistently fought for innovative, common-sense solutions to gun violence.
The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Rep. Madeline Dean for reelection to represent Pennsylvania’s 4th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
