Like far too many, the fight for gun violence prevention is personal for Assemblywoman Margie Donlon.
She lost her cousin to gun violence when he was tragically murdered in Baltimore. This heartbreaking loss continues to remind her of the urgent need for effective solutions to prevent gun violence.
While representing her district, Assemblywoman Donlon has:
- Been a proud sponsor of A4978, legislation that requires the New Jersey Attorney General to report data regarding shootings that did not result in bodily injury — helping increase transparency on firearm-involved offenses
- Voted to preserve funding for Rutgers University’s Gun Violence Research Center, which has conducted and supported dozens of studies that help gun violence prevention advocates and policymakers better understand the contours of this public health crisis and its solutions
- Fought for secure storage, ghost gun, and industry accountability laws that would help protect her constituents from gun violence
