For Mark Gonzalez, ending the gun violence epidemic is personal. Gonzalez was a victim of a carjacking at a very young age and lost several friends to gun violence.
Now he wants to make sure no one else in his community has to face this pain and loss.
As a local activist and chair of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party (LACDP), Mark Gonzalez has been a consistent force for change. He helped pass a law to expand California’s extreme risk laws, ensuring that those who pose a safety threat to themselves or others can’t access a gun. Throughout his career as an organizer, Chair of the LACDP, and public servant, he has been committed to keeping California neighborhoods safe by getting guns off the streets and out of the hands of criminals.
Gonzalez knows that California communities deserve to be safe from weapons of war and all gun violence. As an assemblymember, he will push for laws that don’t just respond to gun violence, but prevent it before it happens.
