Virginia Delegate Marty Martinez understands the impact of gun violence firsthand.
In 2007, 32 people were shot and killed at Virginia Tech while Delegate Martinez’s daughters attended the school. He was forced to wait at home, terrified for his children. While his daughters weren’t harmed that day, that moment was when Delegate Martinez put his full weight behind gun violence prevention.
Delegate Martinez supports:
- Requiring universal Brady Background Checks
- Improving and investing in implementation of extreme risk laws, which temporarily remove firearms from a person in crisis
- Banning assault weapons and large-capacity magazines
Delegate Martinez said:
Gun violence is a uniquely American problem. We must confront this public health and safety crisis with courage and conviction.
The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Delegate Martinez in his campaign to represent the 29th District in the Virginia House of Delegates.
