In Congress, Matthew Montavon is prepared to fight to protect Florida communities.
Montavon knows that Americans are 26 times more likely to be shot and killed than people in other high-income countries. He believes that Congress must ban civilian use of assault weapons, require comprehensive background checks, and enforce and expand extreme risk protection laws.
Montavon said:
We cannot accept gun violence as inevitable. It is time for Congress to act.
Montavon is challenging Rep. Greg Steube who strongly opposes common-sense gun violence prevention measures. Rep. Steube has gone so far as to bring a display of firearms to Congress when campaigning against legislation that would stop mass shootings. Montavon knows that Floridians deserve someone who would fight to protect them, not gun industry profits.
The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Montavon for election to represent Florida’s 17th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
