Just three months after being elected in 2023, Rep. Morgan McGarvey’s hometown of Louisville, KY, was rocked by a devastating mass shooting.

Five people were killed and eight others were injured. Since then, Rep. McGarvey has wasted no time and is honoring the victims and survivors by supporting gun violence prevention legislation to prevent another attack.

Rep. McGarvey cosponsored the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, legislation to ban assault weapons, and Ethan’s Law, which would mandate secure firearm storage across the nation. An active member of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Rep. McGarvey has continued to fight to prevent gun violence and work to pass common-sense legislation.

Rep. McGarvey said:

From mass shootings and self-inflicted injuries to accidental firearm deaths and everyday killings, far too many communities — including Louisville — know the pain of gun violence. No other country in the world has seen this level of death from firearms…we must make sure no other community feels the pain we felt in Louisville.

The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Rep. McGarvey for reelection to represent Kentucky’s 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
