Rep. Norma Torres brings a first-hand perspective to the fight against gun violence.
Before entering politics, she spent 18 years as a 911 dispatcher serving her community. That experience has shaped her work as a member and former vice chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force.

In Congress, Rep. Torres has been a leading supporter and cosponsor of key gun safety legislation, including the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, the Ghost Guns Are Guns Act, and the Multiple Firearm Sales Reporting Act. She also introduced America's regional monitoring of arm sales (ARMAS) Act to strengthen federal oversight of US firearms exports abroad, recognizing that insufficient comprehensive gun laws threaten public safety far beyond U.S. borders.
