As a U.S. Army veteran who served two combat tours, he knows weapons of war have no place on our streets, and is fighting to end the gun violence epidemic in New York.

In 2025, Rep. Ryan introduced the Stopping the Fraudulent Sale of Firearms Act (H.R.4261) to help stem illegal, online sales of firearms. During the 119th Congress, Rep. Ryan also co-sponsored the Background Checks Act of 2025 (H.R. 18), which aims to require background checks for every firearm sale, including those sold online and at gun shows.
