Rep. Pete Aguilar knows how gun violence has devastated communities in California.
In 2015, a terrorist attack, a mile from his district office, left 14 people dead and 22 wounded. This tragedy deepened his commitment to ending the gun violence epidemic, prompting him to become an original member of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition.
Rep. Aguilar said:

As Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, and a member of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Rep. Aguilar helped pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act in 2022, the first major federal gun safety law in nearly three decades. He continues to champion the law’s legacy and push for further reforms, insisting that keeping communities safe from gun violence should never be a partisan issue.
