Rebecca Cooke

Rebecca Cooke is a small business owner and nonprofit leader who knows the power of grit, determination, and resilience.

Cooke cares deeply about protecting Wisconsin communities, especially from the devastation of gun violence, and supports legislation to expand Brady Background Checks, ban assault weapons, and implement extreme risk protection orders.

The stakes for Wisconsinites this November are high: Every 12 hours, someone in Wisconsin is killed by gun violence. Each year, 708 people in Wisconsin are killed by gun violence — including 30 children. Incumbent Rep. Derrick Van Orden, one of the gun lobby’s top allies in Congress, has consistently voted against common-sense gun safety laws that would reduce this bloodshed and has received significant support from the gun lobby. This is one of the reasons why Cooke has decided to challenge him.

Cooke said:

Our state has a rich heritage of hunting and gamesmanship, and I’ve hung out [at] a deer camp or two. That said, I think we need to require universal background checks, close the Charleston loophole, and enforce red flag laws.

The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Rebecca Cooke in her campaign to represent Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
