Rep. Mark Takano has long championed gun violence prevention in Congress. In addition to his strong support for common-sense policies like universal background checks, Rep. Takano has made ending the epidemic of veteran suicide a top priority as Chairman of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee. Veterans are 150 percent more likely to die by suicide than non-Veterans, while nearly 70 percent of Veteran suicides involve firearms. Disturbingly, female Veterans are 220 percent more likely to die by suicide than their non-Veteran counterparts. Rep. Takano understands the complexities and breadth of gun violence in all of its forms and he is committed to making America safer for current and future generations.
The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Rep. Mark Takano for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives.
