Rep. Richie Neal has been an advocate of gun violence prevention for decades.

Rep. Neal’s work in gun violence prevention started in 1993 when he helped pass the Brady Bill, which established our nation’s first background check system for gun sales.

More recently, Rep. Neal has supported common-sense legislation in the House of Representatives. In 2018, after hundreds of students walked out of their classrooms in protest following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL, Rep. Neal met with the students to thank them for their activism, hear their concerns, and collaborate on initiatives that he could bring back to his colleagues in Washington.

Rep. Neal said:

As a father and grandfather, I don’t think parents should have to worry about the safety of their children when they drop them off at school in the morning.

In Congress, Rep. Neal has supported a federal assault weapons ban, a ban on bump stocks, universal background checks, funding for gun violence research, and more.

The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Rep. Neal for reelection to represent Massachusetts’ 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
