Attorney General Rob Bonta has been a relentless advocate for gun violence prevention and a champion for the safety of every Californian.
He’s never been afraid to stand up to the gun industry and fight for the right of every Californian to be safe from gun violence. From defending California’s life-saving gun laws to championing legislation that holds the gun lobby accountable to establishing a state office of gun violence prevention, he has shown that bold courage and evidence-based policies can — and do — save lives.
As attorney general, he has:
- Defended California’s life saving gun laws, including its assault weapons ban, large-capacity magazine restrictions, ammunition background checks, silencer regulations, and so much more
- Cracked down on the proliferation of untraceable ghost guns through enforcement and advocacy
- Held the gun industry accountable, including supporting efforts to allow civil suits against irresponsible gun manufacturers and dealers
Attorney General Bonta emphasized:
Our gun death rate in California is 40 percent lower than the national average, over the course of 30 years we became one of the states with the highest gun death rates, to one of the states with the lowest.
The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse California State Attorney General Bonta in his campaign for re-election.
