Virginia Delegate Sam Rasoul has experienced firsthand the heartbreak gun violence can cause, having tragically lost his nephew to it.
His loss, combined with his deep commitment to community, fuels his fight to advance gun safety legislation that protects families and prevents future tragedies.
While serving as a Virginia Delegate, he advocated for legislation to:
- Require universal Brady Background Checks
- Improve and invest in implementation of extreme risk laws, which temporarily remove firearms from a person in crisis
- Establish the Community Builders Pilot Program, an initiative that aims to reduce youth involvement in behaviors that lead to gun violence and increase community engagement among public school students
Delegate Rasoul said:
I will remain steadfast in protecting Virginians from gun violence. We have a gun violence epidemic in America, and together we will find an end to it.
