Assemblymember Sandra Jauregui is a champion of common-sense gun violence prevention laws that protect Nevadans across the state.
As a survivor of the 1 October shooting, the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history, she is leading the way on gun safety reform. She is ready to fight to win tough battles against the gun industry to ensure no one endures the same trauma she did.
Assemblymember Jauregui said:
I think after surviving 1 October and knowing that I was in a position to do something, gun violence prevention is probably the No. 1 issue that I know I will always fight for… because I never want another family to have to go through what so many of us went through.
Assemblymember Jauregui has worked to pass extreme risk protection laws, ban bump stocks, and more. In 2025, she sponsored Nevada AB 451, which allows someone who is struggling with a mental health challenge to voluntarily surrender their gun for at least 21 days to a licensed firearm dealer. This bipartisan legislation was written in order to prevent suicide with guns.
