As a member of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Rep. Sara Jacobs has fought to hold gun manufacturers and gun store owners accountable.

Rep. Jacobs supported legislation to expand background checks to all gun sales, combat illegal gun trafficking, and secure additional federal funding for the CDC and NIH to study gun violence as a public health threat.

Rep. Jacobs said:

I have been so inspired by them and by young Americans across the country who have fundamentally changed the conversation on gun violence (...) It’s because of their activism we have finally passed common-sense legislation that will save so many lives.

Rep. Jacobs also voted for the Bipartisan Background Checks Act and the Enhanced Background Checks Act, closing the loophole that allowed the Mother Emanuel AME Church shooting. She supports extreme risk protection order laws that allow courts to remove weapons from people who pose a danger to themselves or others, and federal grants for community-based violence prevention programs in communities disproportionately affected by gun violence.

The Brady Campaign is proud to endorse Rep. Jacobs for reelection to represent California’s 50th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
