During her time in the New Jersey General Assembly, Assemblywoman Shama Haider has supported numerous life-saving gun violence prevention bills.
She believes that no one should have to live in fear of gun violence, and she is ready to fight to make that a reality for New Jersey communities. She knows that too many parents in her District fear for their children’s safety concerning gun violence, and Assemblywoman Haider is working tirelessly to ensure their safety.
Assemblywoman Haider:
- Introduced A1389, which requires seizure of ammunition and certain firearms components in response to domestic violence restraining orders or convictions
- Was the primary sponsor of A4977, which requires public safety risk assessments to include additional consideration for firearms
- Advocated to bolster the state’s concealed carry permitting system, banning firearms from sensitive public places, like preschools, playgrounds, parks, and hospitals
Assemblywoman Haider said:
School shootings are a uniquely American problem. We have normalized tragedy in this country. It is imperative we pass this gun legislation now before more innocent lives are lost.
