Having lost his father to gun violence, Rep. Steven Horsford knows all too well the pain of losing a loved one to this preventable epidemic.
Once elected to Congress, Rep. Horsford joined the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, promising to fight for common-sense gun violence prevention laws.
Rep. Horsford said:
Gun violence took my dad when I was 19 — in the same community I now serve. That pain never fades, but we can act to prevent it.
While in Congress, Rep. Horsford has consistently fought to expand Brady Background Checks, introduced the Break the Cycle of Violence Act, which would invest a historic $5 billion for community-based violence intervention programs, and has continued to stress the importance of funding gun violence prevention programs in Black and Brown communities, where residents are disproportionately affected by gun violence.
