Tish James has fought hard to protect New Yorkers, and she is ready to continue that work.
Since taking office, she has stood up to the Trump administration and powerful gun lobby groups time and time again. Her work has strengthened gun violence prevention laws and protected communities across the state of New York.
Attorney General James said:
Every New Yorker deserves to feel safe in their community…The Trump administration is trying to erase decades of bipartisan progress that has helped reduce gun violence and save lives. We are calling on ATF to abandon these unlawful proposals and uphold its responsibility to protect the public instead of putting the interests of the gun industry first.
As Attorney General, James has taken over 9,500 illegal guns off New York’s streets and has worked to stop the proliferation of ghost guns that harm New York communities. She has also taken on hate-based violence, including helping get justice for the victims of the 2022 Buffalo Tops Supermarket shooting. In her next term, James will continue to defend gun violence prevention laws and expand legislation that protects New Yorkers.
