Brady Campaign Endorses Rep. Matt Cartwright for Re-Election

Washington D.C., July 16, 2020 - Today, the Brady Campaign endorsed Rep. Matt Cartwright (PA-08) in his campaign for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020.

Brady Campaign President Kris Brown shared:

“Rep. Matt Cartwright has made his commitment to keep all Americans safe from gun violence clear in Congress. He is an active leader within the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force and has worked to pass common-sense laws to protect the lives of his constituents. A gun owner himself, Rep. Cartwright understands the need for basic reforms, like expanding and strengthening the Brady Background Check System, to keep firearms out of the hands of people who are prohibited by law from possessing them. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, his support was critical to funding gun violence prevention research and for increasing the resources for both the National Instant Criminal Background Check System and the ATF. Brady is proud to endorse Rep. Cartwright for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives.”

Rep. Matt Cartwright shared:

“We can’t sit idly by while innocent lives are lost and families are torn apart by gun violence. This tragic cycle needs to end. Common-sense reforms like expanded background checks and closing loopholes for firearm sales can help keep guns out of the wrong hands and save lives. I’m proud to have the Brady Campaign’s support as we work to ensure our children grow up in a safer world.”

In a political climate polluted by divisiveness, it is essential that our elected officials work towards what is best for the people. Rep. Matt Cartwright has demonstrated, time and time again, that he will work to make American communities safer. He has earned our praise, and we are proud to once again endorse Rep. Matt Cartwright for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives.
