The Brady Campaign Endorses Rep. Josh Gottheimer for Re-Election

Washington, D.C, July 6, 2020 -Today, the Brady Campaign endorsed Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05) in his campaign for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020.

Brady President Kris Brown said:

“Rep. Josh Gottheimer is a proven gun violence prevention champion who has worked tirelessly to pass common-sense laws. From backing H.R.8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019, to supporting federal funding for research into gun violence prevention for the first time in over 20 years, Rep. Gottheimer is an advocate for sensible public health and safety policies. His bipartisan work to increase public safety nationwide, such as co-authoring the ALYSSA Act, named for Alyssa Alhadeff, who was murdered in Parkland and has family from New Jersey’s Fifth District, embodies Brady’s mission to create a safer America by taking action, not sides. We need his voice in Congress. Brady is proud to endorse Rep. Josh Gottheimer for re-election.”

Rep. Josh Gottheimer shared:

"The time for real action on gun safety is now. Like so many Americans, I am sick and tired of having to wage this fight against gun violence, year in and year out, when so many of the potential solutions are sitting right in front of us. This is not a partisan issue. It’s time for Congress to act on common sense bipartisan legislation, including many measures, such as background checks, that have the widespread support of the American people. Too many lives have been cut short already and I refuse to accept that we cannot solve this crisis of gun violence in our nation. I am grateful to be endorsed by Brady and to continue working with them, across party lines, to keep our children, families and communities safe."

Rep. Gottheimer has made gun-violence prevention a central issue for his work in Congress. Brady is confident that he will continue to lead. We are proud to endorse Rep. Josh Gottheimer for re-election.
