Washington D.C., August 14, 2020--Today, the Brady Campaign endorsed Senator Gary Peters (MI) for re-election to the United States Senate. We are proud to stand with Senator Peters as he continues to protect Michiganders from gun violence.
Brady Campaign President Kris Brown shared,
“The progress achieved by the House remains stifled by the inaction of the Senate, but leaders like Sen. Peters remain critical to press for action on this issue. Senator Peters has supported the full funding and improvement of the National Instant Criminal Background System, fought for gun violence prevention research funding at the CDC and NIH, and cosponsored the Protecting Domestic Violence and Stalking Victims Act, which would prevent domestic abusers from obtaining firearms. It is through action, not partisan politics, that we are uniting with Senator Peters to address American gun violence. We are proud to endorse Senator Gary Peters for re-election to the United States Senate.”
Senator Gary Peters shared,
“The tragedy of gun violence has become all too frequent in our country. We need to keep our communities safe, that's why I’m dedicated to passing gun safety reforms like comprehensive background checks and closing loopholes to prevent future tragedies and save lives. I’m proud to receive the endorsement from Brady, an important voice in this fight, and look forward to continuing to work together to implement common sense solutions.”
The United States Senate is a critical partner in preventing gun deaths and injuries. It is through the leadership of individuals like Sen. Peters that we will be able to achieve our long-term goals of a safer country. Once again, Brady is proud to endorse Sen. Gary Peters for re-election to the United States Senate.
Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
