Brady Campaign Reiterates the Need for States to Continue Counting Votes, Following President Trump’s Erroneous Claim of Victory and Call to Halt Valid Ballot Counting

Despite Trump's assertions, every vote must be counted and the American people alerted to the accurate results of this election.

Washington, D.C., November 4, 2020 - The Brady Campaign denounces the false and dangerous statements from President Trump regarding the results of the presidential election. Brady reiterates the importance for state election officials to clearly communicate established results. Voting in the United States remains safe and secure. Every vote must be counted and the American people alerted to the accurate results of this election.

Brady Campaign President Kris Brown explained:

“An unprecedented number of Americans have participated in this year’s election, including voting early and by mail. This groundswell of democratic action is a sign that the American people want a say in their government and the direction of our country - they must not be denied that say. The Brady Campaign reiterates its support for the clear and established election procedures that have been followed.

President Trump has called for states to stop counting valid votes and claimed that he has won this election. He has not. Votes are still being counted. Regardless of President Trump and his administration’s countless attempts to disrupt this election, ours is a nation of laws and is still rooted in democratic ideals.

States must continue to count and to include every vote. It is an unthinkable disservice to the American people, and to the integrity of our democracy, to disregard the will of the people - that includes their votes.”
