Washington, D.C., February 13, 2020 - Today Brady endorsed Rep. Kathleen Rice (NY-04) in her campaign for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020.
Brady President Kris Brown shared:
“Rep. Rice has spent her career working to combat and prevent gun violence. As a former District Attorney and prosecutor, Rep. Rice has personally seen the toll that gun violence takes on our communities. In Congress, that experience has informed her work. From co-sponsoring H.R.8, which would strengthen and expand background checks, to championing the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, Rep. Rice has demonstrated that her experience and understanding of the gun violence epidemic has translated into action. Brady is proud to endorse Rep. Rice for re-election.”
As a Vice Chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Rep. Rice has worked to ensure that the federal government acts to prevent gun violence in the United States, even as the U.S. Senate refuses to take action. She brings over two decades of experience as a career prosecutor and District Attorney to her role in Congress.
Rep. Rice shared:
“As we continue our fight to end gun violence in America, I’m honored to be endorsed by Brady, which has been a leader in this movement for over four decades. Gun violence in this country has reached a crisis point. Every day, we lose far too many innocent lives to this epidemic. And as a former prosecutor, I’ve seen the toll that these tragedies take on families and communities first hand. Despite the passage of several pieces of important gun violence legislation this Congress, our fight is far from over. With our bills stalled in the Senate and with a White House that is beholden to the NRA, we still have much more work to do. But we are not giving up. We will continue fighting to pass common-sense legislation that will save lives and put an end to these tragedies. And with groups like Brady in our corner, I have no doubt that we will prevail.”
Given the urgent need for federal action to reform our nation’s gun laws and to reduce gun violence, Brady will continue to issue endorsements for the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Senate and state and local offices ahead of the 2020 elections.
