Washington, D.C., July 2, 2020 - Today, the Brady Campaign endorses Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) for re-election in 2020.
Brady Campaign President Kris Brown shared:
“Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman has shown time and again that gun violence prevention is a priority. She has demonstrated that she understands the need for common-sense gun violence prevention solutions and that she is unafraid to act on behalf of her constituents and for all Americans. From backing H.R.8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019, and H.R.1112, the Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2019, to supporting federal funding for research into gun violence prevention for the first time in over 20 years, Rep.Watson Coleman has used her voice in Congress to advocate for sensible, public health and safety policies. Brady is proud to endorse Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman for re-election.
Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman shared:
"The Brady Campaign has worked tirelessly for the last 45 years to help rid our streets and our schools from the scourge of gun violence. Since arriving in Congress, I have introduced several pieces of legislation designed to accomplish just that including the Handgun Licensing and Registration Act, the Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act and the HEAR Act to regulate silencers and mufflers. I'm honored to have received the endorsement of the Brady Campaign and look forward to our continued work to make America a safer place."
Rep. Watson Coleman has worked throughout her entire time in Congress to enact common-sense gun violence prevention legislation. Already a trailblazer, Rep. Watson Coleman made history as the first African-American woman to represent New Jersey in Congress and has taken important votes to move gun violence prevention policies forward.

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
