Brady Announces 35 Federal Endorsements of Gun Safety Champions Ahead of 2026 Midterms

In the election homestretch, Brady backs candidates who will deliver the safety and accountability Americans demand

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 8, 2026 — Brady, the oldest gun violence prevention organization, announced its final slate of federal endorsements for the 2026 midterm elections, backing 35 candidates for the U.S. Senate and U.S. House who will fight relentlessly for safer communities, hold the gun industry accountable for its reckless actions, and take on extremists like Donald Trump, John Thune, and Mike Johnson, who are actively working to dismantle America’s lifesaving gun laws.

The endorsements come at a watershed moment for public safety in this country. While the gun lobby and its allies in the White House and in Congress have spent the past two years weakening basic safety protections and prioritizing the profits of the gun industry over public health and safety, Americans are demanding the exact opposite: Safety for their children and communities, and accountability from the corporations and elected officials whose actions directly put them at risk. The 120th Congress will determine whether the gun industry’s deadly agenda continues unchecked, or whether America shifts toward stronger public safety.

Brady  urges the next Congress to commit to an affordability agenda that invests in proven violence prevention strategies, including community-based violence intervention programs and secure firearm storage education, and addresses the root causes of gun violence, including economic instability.

“The midterms represent a clear choice about the kind of country we want to live in, and whether Americans are willing to accept gun violence as inevitable in their communities,” said Brady President Kris Brown. “They shouldn’t, and we urge voters to show up at the polls on November 3rd  and demand a different future with their vote. Brady PAC’s endorsed candidates are ready on day one to stand up to the gun lobby and make our communities safer,” Brown continued.

Brady's 2026 endorsements focus on the most competitive and consequential congressional races in the country. Collectively, Brady's endorsed candidates this cycle represent the diversity of the gun violence prevention movement: Candidates from different backgrounds and communities united around the basic principle that we must free America from gun violence.

Brady and Brady’s youth-led initiative, Team ENOUGH, are engaged in turning out the critical youth vote through the Youth Safety Victory Fund, which is investing in a new generation of organizers and grassroots leaders in competitive congressional districts across America.

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
