As a mother, Kirsten Engel knows that we must do everything in our power to protect America’s youth from gun violence.

I support the Second Amendment and am not coming for the guns of law-abiding Arizonans. Not now, not ever. But I think we can all agree on common-sense gun safety measures like closing the gun show loophole to help keep our communities safe.
Engel has long been a champion of gun violence prevention in the state of Arizona. As a state senator, Engel fought for the passage of critical gun violence prevention measures like extreme risk laws, a ban on bump stocks, and the closure of the gun show loophole. After the mass shooting in Parkland, FL, Engel also introduced legislation to require a waiting period after firearm purchases. But the incumbent, Rep. Juan Ciscomani, who is one of the gun lobby's top allies in Congress, has failed to address the epidemic of gun violence in Arizona. He opposes universal background checks, supports legislation that will flood communities with more firearms, which will inevitability lead to more gun violence, and is financially supported by the gun lobby.
