Brady Endorses Rep. Steven Horsford (NV-04) for Re-Election

Washington, D.C., February 6, 2020 - Today Brady endorsed Rep. Steven Horsford (NV-04) in his campaign for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020. Brady is proud to endorse Rep. Horsford during “Gun Violence Survivors Week,” the week dedicated to recognizing the survivors of gun violence and the scope of the gun violence epidemic in the United States.

Brady President Kris Brown stated:

“Rep. Horsford has made common-sense gun violence prevention legislation a top priority. Serving on the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Rep. Horsford has supported important gun safety legislation such as H.R.8 and H.R.1112, which were passed by the U.S. House of Representatives in February 2019 and would expand and strengthen background checks. Rep. Horsford has made this issue a priority, as it is personal to him, having lost his father to gun violence at age 19. We need more clear and passionate, common-sense voices championing gun safety in Congress. It’s why Brady is proud to endorse Rep. Horsford for re-election.”

During his tenure in Congress, Rep. Horsford has consistently championed common-sense gun violence prevention policies. Having voted for both H.R.8 and H.R.1112, two bipartisan bills that passed the U.S. House of Representatives in February 2019, as well as serving as the lead House sponsor of the Break the Cycle of Violence Act with Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), which creates a grant to empower community based violence intervention programs to curb the ever-growing number of gun deaths.

Gun violence is likewise a pressing concern for Rep. Horsford, whose home state of Nevada saw the October 1, 2017 shooting in Las Vegas that claimed 59 lives and injured more than 800 at the Route 61 Harvest Music Festival.

Rep. Horsford shared:

“I’m very proud to have earned the endorsement of Brady. Our nation is dealing with a gun violence epidemic. Nevada, in particular, is among the deadliest states for gun fatalities and experienced the largest mass shooting in American history. I know firsthand what it means to lose a loved one to gun violence and how it negatively impacts our children, families, and communities. I will do everything I can to pass and enact gun safety legislation in the House of Representatives."

Given the urgent need for federal action to reform our nation’s gun laws and to reduce gun violence, Brady will continue to issue endorsements for the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Senate and state and local offices ahead of the 2020 elections.
