Brady Endorses Rep. Ted Deutch (FL-22) for Re-Election

Washington, D.C., February 13, 2020 - Today Brady endorsed Rep. Ted Deutch (FL-22) in his campaign for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020.

Brady President Kris Brown shared:

“Rep. Deutch is an outspoken champion of common-sense gun violence prevention policies. From voting for expanding and strengthening background checks in the 116th Congress, to supporting policies such as a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, Rep. Deutch understands that we cannot wait for the next tragedy to act to prevent gun violence. He has shown the willingness and strength to speak loudly in support of gun safety policies that will help to save lives. It is why Brady is proud to loudly support Rep. Deutch. Brady is proud to endorse Rep. Deutch for re-election.

Representing Florida’s 22nd Congressional District, Rep. Deutch has made gun violence prevention a key issue during his time in Congress. As the lead sponsor of several gun violence prevention bills, including H.R. 1186, the Keep Americans Safe Act, which passed through the House Judiciary Committee in September , Rep. Deutch has helped lead the charge in the 116th Congress to ensure that the federal government acts to prevent gun violence and keep our communities safe.

Rep. Deutch shared:

"I am honored to accept Brady’s endorsement. As a leading voice in the movement to save lives from gun violence, Brady has been instrumental in the most significant gun safety victories in our nation’s history. But we know that we have so much more work to do. Too many lives have been lost to the epidemic of gun violence, including children who will never grow up and families that will forever be incomplete. It doesn't have to be this way. That is why every day that I am in Congress I do everything in my power to make our communities, schools, houses of worship, and public spaces safer. I am so proud to work alongside Brady in this essential effort to save lives."

Stacey-Ann Llewellyn, whose daughter, Aalayah Eastmond, is a survivor of the 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, shared:

“I am a single mom. Although it had been a struggle, I thought I’d done everything right. I moved to Coral Springs so my daughter could grow up in a safe environment with great schools. February 14th changed everything. I’ve learned since then that there are many politicians actively working against better gun laws and a select few who are truly champions for people like Aalayah and I. Representative Ted Deutch has been there fighting by our side every step of the way. We need to keep his voice in Congress.”

Given the urgent need for federal action to reform our nation’s gun laws and to reduce gun violence, Brady will continue to issue endorsements for the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Senate and state and local offices ahead of the 2020 elections.
